and the first Spelling / Vocabulary "test" (really a quiz) of the year

We are working on saying and writing whole numbers and decimals correctly

Make sure you study every night (around 10 minutes, say)...  this way you "own" the material and don't have to panic and study the night or weekend before.  You retain more, and 10 minutes a night is easy.

Vocabulary Boxes are due on Friday as well.  The words are on p. 5 and are the same words being tested on Friday

Please have a reading book from home or the library that you are bringing to school daily to read for silent reading time.

Math

No homework.  Today we learned about changing numbers into words.  For example, 6, 289, 385 is read as "six million, two hundred eighty nine thousand, three hundred eighty five".

Students are to bring home behavior charts on Thursday and have them signed ready for Friday

Me bags are due Monday for my language arts class

Back To School Night is next Wednesday with a 5th grade parent meeting beforehand

Tonight, bring home your behavior chart to be signed.  If there are any specific questions or comments, write them on the chart itself or send me an email.  We've had a great week so far, and I'm excited by how readily the class has adapted to 5th grade.

Not much news to report again today.  I need everyone's library forms signed today.  Also, stay tuned for an announcement regarding the 5th grade parent meeting on Back To School Night.  I will post details when I have more information.

Still slowly getting our feet wet on Day 2.  The only addition to your paperwork that needs to be turned in is the form that discusses iReady.  Make sure you get a parent signature
