This Wednesday is Picture Day and this Friday is Cougar Pride where our class is performing!  Students are to wear red, white, and blue

We are switching to a writing unit, so expect reading logs to cease momentarily starting next week.  This doesn't mean you're to stop reading however!  Fifth graders should be reading about an hour a day.

Well, I almost made it the entire month of August without a missing blog post.  I apologize for yesterday's lapse - the internet cut out in the classroom I was in.

Math

Yesterday we did a Common Core lesson on the number line and decimals - attempting to understand things in depth.

Today we learned about prime and composite

Make sure your child knows their multiplication and division facts automatically within 5 seconds or less.  They are way below grade level if they don't!!!!

Language Arts

lots of mini assignments...

1.  NO spelling / vocabulary test this week

2.  Vocabulary boxes are due by Thursday

3.  Grammar worksheet on the 4 kinds of sentences / interjections

4.  Reading log next Friday (Sept 11) - must incorporate non fiction expository text, must be signed

5.  Final paragraph based on the say/mean/matter protocol we worked on in class.  Email me if you have specific questions on that

6.  Reading test next Wednesday (Sept 9) or so.  You can't really study for it though!
